That swashbuckling sailor Sir Francis Drake brought bowls into the nautical sphere in 1588 when, upon hearing of the approach of the Spanish Armada, he refused to set sail with the British Fleet until he had finished his game of Bowls on Plymouth Hoe. The truth was that the tide and wind were wrong for them to put to sea, so he had to wait - but it makes a great story! (Later, when conditions were right, he defeated the Armada by sailing burning ships into their fleet.) Whilst bowls normally require a green about 40m long, our mini carpet set can be played indoors with as little as 4m space. It consists of eight weighted and biased injection-moulded bowls of 5cm diameter, a white jack, and instructions. Simple to play, but skill shows - and enjoyed by all ages.
